When I have a child climb into my seat and ask them what they would like to be I am listening to them, but also assessing them. I look at their eyes and nose to check for redness and running, listen to their voice for stuffiness, and check their head for fever as I move their hair. I wipe away food or stickiness and look for rashes and broken skin. Depending on my findings, I may choose to do an arm design. Sick kids get a sticker or a temp tattoo and I reserve the right to make the call. Sometimes this upsets parents, but I am protecting everyone, including myself. I keep my left hand on their head throughout painting to sense if a sneeze or cough is coming.

 

I use one sponge per child and a two brush wash system:

1) Sanitizing soapy solution using Brush Bath™ (changed regularly)

2) Clean Water (changed regularly)

 

In between events, my chair and hard surfaces of kit are wiped down with sanitizing wipes. Makeup colors are wiped and sanitized with Beauty So Clean™ makeup cleaner and sanitizer. Sponges are washed in soapy water and high heat dried. 

 

As always, all of the makeup and glitter I use is FDA compliant for cosmetic use on skin. Neon and day glow pigments have been independently tested and have the same base ingredients as the compliant makeup. These makeups are formulated with antibacterial properties in their ingredients.
